The goal of this project is to create a resource of mapped bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC) clones that span the human genome at 1-Mb intervals. GenMapDB is a database that contains information on the mapped BAC clones.
We use the clones from the RPCI-11 human male BAC library as starting material. The clones in this collection are mapped by filter-hybridization and verified by STS-content PCR (Cheung et al, 1999). Clones are anchored to STS markers from the GeneBridge4 RH map or from chromosome-specific YAC maps. The STS markers on this map are spaced at approximately 1-Mb intervals.
We will update this database routinely with mapped clones. Please reference our paper, "A resource of mapped human BAC clones" when you use our clones.
